tolle nachrichten, da pool bei ES in zukunft ja doch eher selten gezeigt werden wird.

Chinese sensation Ding Junhui proved again why he is such hot property, especially in his homeland.


In China for a week he took part in the the opening ceremony of Pang Weiguo's snooker club. The world No.9 played three frames against local snooker fans. In the first of those the 20-year-old effortlessly compiled a maximum 147 to enthrall the crowd, despite using a borrowed cue and on a brand new table.

Ding whose parents accompanied him to the event, has also been taking in some basketball whilst in China. He was courtside in Beijing for the charity match between Steve Nash's NBA stars and the Chinese team led by Yao Ming. The actor Jackie Chan was also there to conduct the coin toss.

Ding who is aiming to cement his place in the Top 16 this season will have his next opportunity in Aberdeen, at the Royal London Watches Grand Prix before defending his Northern Ireland Trophy title.

Snooker legend Stephen Hendry joins snooker’s top players in Sheffield on Saturday for one of the sport’s most popular tournaments – Pot Black.


The line-up for the one-frame knockout event is now complete, with the quarter-final draw as follows:

• Former World Champion and current Maplin UK Champion Peter Ebdon versus former World Champion and local favourite Shaun Murphy.

• Last season’s double ranking event winner Neil Robertson versus snooker legend and seven-times World Champion Stephen Hendry.

• World No 1 and 888.com World Champion John Higgins versus former Crucible champ Ken Doherty

• Defending Pot Black champion and two-times World Champion Mark Williams versus last year’s 888.com World Champion Graeme Dott.

Scotland’s 38-year-old Hendry said: “My first TV appearance came many years ago in the junior version of Pot Black so it is an event that I’ve always had a close affinity for.
 
“I’m looking forward to taking part. The very nature of the tournament means that it’s real shoot-out stuff and should be quite exciting.”

Ronnie O’Sullivan misses the event due to personal commitments.

The tournament, first staged in 1969, will be held at Sheffield City Hall for the first time. The action will be screened by BBC Sport from 1pm, with the semi-finals live from 2.30pm.

DALE BACK TO WINNING WAYS

Roewe Shanghai Masters champion Dominic Dale took home another piece of silverware after winning the fifth event of the Pontin's Pro-Am Series.


The Welshman beat Stephen Craigie 4-2 in the final at Prestatyn on Sunday with a top break of 90.

On his way to the final, Dale beat the likes of Leo Fernandez and Junior Pot Black winner Mitchell Mann.
